Migration guide (switching from v1 to v2)

On May 1st 2022 we pushed our biggest updates yet and released Paytable 2.0. All users who signed up before May 1st 2022 have been automatically migrated along with your existing sites (previously called spaces) & payment information. This means a painless hassle free migration, and most importantly your end users will only have to reset their password to continue accessing your databases. Below, we break down the benefits of Paytable 2.0 and show you exactly what you need to do get started.

Paytable 2.0 - the benefits

Airtable Integration improvements Focusing on providing secure Airtable access to your audience is our priority. This means the way you can integrate your Airtable base into your Paytable site has had a BIG update. New features include toggling your Airtable controls, turning search & filter on or off, a full width base displayer, and a customisable preview window to ensure you deliver your database securely and in style. Site builder You asked for it, we built it. Introducing our brand new site builder to create custom landing pages and member only pages, including a customisable site header, blocks to add additional copy, FAQs & more. If you were previously using a different site builder and integrating with Paytable, why not move your WHOLE stack to Paytable and work on everything for your product in one location.

The Paytable Site Builder

Multiple pricing tiers & plan options Brand new to Paytable 2.0 we now offer unlimited pricing options to charge for access to your Site. Offer free, one-off purchases and recurring payment options, free trial periods, coupons & heaps more. Our payment features have seen a complete overhaul to enable more flexible pricing options for your audience. Custom domains & sub domains Changing the root url of your domain is now possible and extremely easy to do. This can be done by going to the ‘Publish’ page of your site and adding your DNS records to your domain provider.

Custom domains

Site speed & SEO Our new platform has been completely rebuilt with a lighter, more streamlined code base. Take advantage of improvements to our site speed, SEO & google indexing performance for your Sites. Webhooks & integrations Brand new to Paytable, introducing Webhooks. Add new subscribed users via a simple to use endpoint or send data from Paytable to ANY app using our Webhooks in Zapier. This opens up lots of opportunities, including the possibility to use your own payment gateway and integrate Paytable within your existing stack exactly how you need.

How to access the the new Paytable 2.0 dashboard

Moving forward you will be able to manage your users, track sales, logins & activity from within the new v2 Admin dashboard - https://app.paytable.io/dashboard

You can also access the login page from the paytable.io homepage.

Check out our guide on how to navigate your new dashboard here.

How to access your V1 dashboard

If you need to check logs from before your switch date you can log back in to your v1 dashboard here: https://paytable.io#login If you would like to receive your logs as an export please send a request here and we’ll send you a CSV export of all previous logs.

You and your users can continue to use your existing setup and access your v1 dashboard until 30 June 2022.

What do I need to do to to get V2 ready?

1) Sign off your new ‘Members Area’

  • Check out your new v2 Members Area (which only your members can access) and confirm you are happy with the setup (we have migrated your main database from the reader in v1 for you). To see this head to app.paytable.io/dashboard, click on site Builder, then click ‘Members Area’ in the top page navigation bar.

2) Choose to use your own homepage or get users to register and pay for access to your Members Area through Paytable

  • If you decide to use our Homepage builder, you can customise the landing page and host the end-to-end user acquisition journey through Paytable - registration, payment and login.
  • If you use your own landing page, you will need to add your new v2 direct links to your landing page meaning all new users will be able to purchase and login correctly using the v2 setup. See our helpful guide on using direct links when using your own landing page below:
  • Use direct links

3) Confirm your site setup with us by email so we can migrate all your existing users for you automatically in one click.

We’ll also re-direct your v1 links to the new Paytable 2.0 URLs so that if any users click your old links (e.g. login page or registration page URLs) they will land on the new pages.

4) Share your new login link with your existing users

All you need to do is send them the new login URL and get them to reset their password to access Paytable 2.0 for the first time.

💡
At this stage you’ve signed off your new Members Area and ensured your Homepage is set up correctly, so all that is left to do is to update your users with their brand new login link and get them to reset their password. Here is a simple starting template you can use once you have completed the above steps:

Dear Jane Smith, We’re happy to let you know we’ve made some big improvements to [Your product name] including a new & improved viewing experience of your database and a full width document viewer. In order to access our database moving forward please head too: your-site.paytable.site/login

To log in the first time you need to reset your password by clicking ‘Forgot password? Click here to update’ on the login form, which you can access here: <insert your reset password link>

Thanks,

What do my users need to do?

Your users will need to use the new login link to access your Database moving forward. They’ll just need to reset their password to access it for the first time.

There are a few ways you can get them to do this:

  1. They can click the ‘Forgot password? Click here to updatelink on your new login page.
  2. You can send them a direct link to your new reset password page.
  3. You can copy an express link from the ‘Users’ page and send it across to them so they can immediately set a new password and login.

Please remember that your existing setup will stay live through to June 30th 2020, so any ‘slow movers’ have plenty of time to get to grips with the new login flow.

Migration deadline

You and your users can continue to use your existing setup and access your v1 dashboard until 30 June 2022. There will be a grace period after this date, however please aim to be fully migrated by this date to avoid any migration issues.
